BOOK TITLE FORMULATION

BOOK TITLE FORMULATION

This is one of the most critical part of your book. This stage puzzles and confuse most authors. Many authors are stuck on this stage. The issue is that if you are not careful you will be having a lot of options at your disposal. In fact 'many advisors' would want to come to your rescue. If you are not careful you can produce a very good book but with a title thrown or imposed on you. This stage needs a lot of imagination.

Though this list is not exhaustive, these qualities of a title of a book could help:
1. Original: it's cowardice to copy and paste titles. Show that it's your title.
2. Not too long: too long a title could be preemptive of all what's in the book.
3. Not too short: people may struggle to understand what to you want to say.
4. Specific and not ambiguous: the title must not have lots of interpretation at face value.
5. Captivating and not too dull: the title is part of the cover of a book and should be captivating.
6. Simple and not too complicated: simplicity is the greatest channel to touch a complicated world.
7. Captures your thoughts in the book: some authors fall in a temptation of having a title which is divorced from the contents of the book.
8. Permanance: unless it for volumes or you intent to change the contents of the book, the title should speak into eternity. There is no need to continously change the title

I am glad you are going to pick that book and make it ready for publishing.
