MARRIAGE BREAKTHROUGH NOTES FOR YOUTH

5 Ps OF MARRIAGE

1.       PURPOSE OF MARRIAGE

Every person who desires marriage must understand the purpose of marriage. Marriage is not for wealth accumulation, feeling pity for someone, getting a new status etc. Marriage is God’s design for companionship, mutualism, sexual fulfillment and procreation.

2.       PRINCIPLES OF MARRIAGE

Marriage is from God and is based on Biblical principles. There are some issues you cant change about marriage. Marriage is between two people of the opposite sex.

3.       PREPARATION OF MARRIAGE

Marriage is not an event but a process. As such it needs a lot of preparation. You need to be prepared psychologically, financially, spiritually, physically and emotionally

4.       PERMANENCE OF MARRIAGE

Marriage is not a temporary arrangement. You shall be in marriage for good. That’s why we say until death do us part. Marriage has no trial version. Once married, always married.

5.       PURITY OF MARRIAGE

Those going into marriage must understand to discipline themselves in terms of sexual purity. Don’t think marriage will solve your lust problem or sexual problems. You must decide to be pure sexually as you enter into marriage. In marriage there is no room for adultery or fornication.

7 TYPES OF BAD SPOUSES

7 TYPES OF BAD SPOUSES

• The Yes Spouse: This spouse is quick to agree but slow to deliver. Every item is always YES. The Yes spouses leave a trail of unfulfilled commitments and broken promises. Yes spouses over-commit to please.
• The Maybe spouse: When faced with a crucial decision, the Maybe spouses are not predictable. You are not sure of them because to them it is ‘maybe I will’
• The Nothing spouse: You can’t know what’s going on because the Nothing spouse tells you nothing—no feedback, verbal or nonverbal. They are the reserved ones. If you ask them the answer is ‘nothing’
• The No spouse: This spouse is the negatively rigid ones. This one defends his or her cause by saying, ‘I’m not being negative, I’m being realistic.’ Even if there is an obvious yes, they are doleful and discouraging with their NO.
• The Grenade spouse: This spouse explodes in tantrums that seem disproportionate to the present circumstances, sending the other partner ducking for cover and wondering what it’s all about. These are too emotional and can explode any time.
• The Know-It-All spouse: This spouse knows everything about every subject. They are not ready to hear or listen from the other spouse about ideas or suggestion. They are related to The Think-They-Know-It-All. These once even if they don’t know that much, they don’t let that get in the way.
• The Bulldozer spouse: The spouse is pushy and ruthless, loud and forceful. If you are in their way, you will be eliminated.

DEALING WITH SEXUAL BUGS

DEALING WITH SEXUAL BUGS

1. Acknowledge that you are wrong
The Bible challenges the people to recognize their sin and to receive Christ as Saviour. Many people live a life of self defence. They do not want to admit that they are wrong. For any kind of deliverance the first point of call is to admit that you are addicted to sexual sins and what you are doing is wrong. Denying that you are wrong and defending yourself is blocking the need for overcoming sexual bugs and may not be the solution. Never try to justify your problem and raise the ‘good’ reasons behind surfing nude pictures.

2. Recognize you need help and willing to change
It is not enough to just acknowledge that you are wrong. When you acknowledge that you are wrong you need to recognize and admit that you are in need of help. When you do that you open access and an avenue to your deliverance from being bound. When you recognize that you need help you must yield to the will of God for Him to begin a new life in you.
He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion ~ Proverbs 28:13.
Some do not want to change just because they think that it is not possible to change. Many people understand they are wrong and they know they need help but they are not ready to change. You can never change until you are willing. Change is a deliberate move. It is true that we may not be feeling like changing but we can decide to do it for our own sake.

3. Seek help and confess

The truth is that when you try to keep sin a secret, your spirit will become increasingly troubled and haunted. Therefore, if you have a problem of pornography addiction, you must seek help and be counselled. Make yourself accountable to a spiritual authority, who may be a pastor or a mature believer. You need someone to share your challenges and struggles with.
I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I did not hide; I said, 'I will confess my transgressions to the LORD'; And You forgave the guilt of my sin ~ Psalm 32:5.
If you are bound you may also need prayer of deliverance from the sin and the spirits associated with it. You need to sever any relationship which may encourage the destructive behavior. There is also the power of confession. Confession is exposing the sin and the devil that pushes you to act badly.

4. Be conformed to the Word of God
The word of God is the best solution to every evil deed. When we let the word of God rule in us we are actually surrendering to the will of God and letting Him take control of our life. Every youth must have a habit of reading the Word of God for the transformation of the mind (Romans 12:2).
Mediation of the word of God will make us subject to the Word and reject all evil thoughts and replace it with the truth. Prayer and meditation of Bible verses is a great way of mirroring yourself against what God thinks of you and how your life should be. Married people must also replace junk music with powerful worship music as a way of inviting God’s presence.

5. Avoid tempting moments
When you are on the road map to recovery you can’t be found visiting pornographic sites again. Make every effort to flee from temptation. The fire which once burnt you is still in existence and you can’t fool yourself that you will never be burnt. Be careful of your friends and who you spend your day with. Do not follow the counsel of the wicked and evil men. Turn your eye from everything no matter how tempting it is AND be committed to a holy life.

6. Destroy all pornographic material
The devil takes hold of you using the material which belongs to his kingdom. It is not possible to expect deliverance and keep those materials which were keeping you bound. If you want to be delivered from pornographic bondage and overcome pornography addiction you must destroy any pornographic materials in your possession. Keeping pornographic material will make you fall into temptation of constantly wanting to refer to the material. Today, deliberately decide to wean yourself off pornography.

KEYS TO EFFECTIVE RELATIONSHIPS

KEYS TO EFFECTIVE RELATIONSHIPS

6 Rs FOR EFFECTIVE RELATIONSHIPS

A human being is a relational being. You cannot avoid relationships in life. It maybe at family level, social level, organisational or institutional level. For these relationships to work parties to a relationship should utilise the keys below:

1. Respect
Many relationships fail because of lack of respect. Respect is mutual. Many  times we think it is the junior who should respect the senior. Respect is a matter  of the heart and has nothing to do with positions. There are many pastors who do not respect the congregation they lead, managers who do not respect their subordinates,  employers who do not respect their employees and even husbands  who do not respect their wives.  Respect is not demanded but earned. Many organisations are full of leaders who demand respect and they are surprised that the more they demand it the more they don't get it. If we understand that we are the image of God we will able to respect. However pride had limited many people to respect others in a relationship set up   Respect is hinged on the spirit of servanthood.

2. Reciprocity
Relationship building is a two way street way. Many people expect others to make effort to build a relationship when they are relaxed. It is abuse to expect one part to a relationship  to make effort to build a relationship. You have a role to play for that relationship to stand. If you want to be respected then respect also, if you want to be given, then start to give, if you want great company desire to be in company. Relationship is transaction which doesn't involve one person. In this transaction, when we help each other to build relationships, organisations, families and institutions will live in greatness.

3. Responsibility of actions
Relationships only survive because of responsibility of people  in the relationship. All the actions we do in a relationship we should be responsible for the them. Many relationships are made up of people who have a blame game. If anything goes wrong in a relationship and we are responsible , are we able to own up. Husbands shift blame when they mess up, some pastors shift blame when they mess up, directors shift blame when they mess up and the list goes on. This is bad  for any relationship. When a part to a relationship is blamed for actions they have not done they  are bound to shut down or switch off from that relationship.

4. Restoration
In any relationship setup , many a time there is bound to be crossing of paths. There are bound to be conflicts and disagreements. When that happens there should be restoration mechanisms. This include conflict resolution, forgiveness, counselling and so on. Many divorces, church splits, company shut downs were caused by people who didn't want to restore relations. It is sad that many institutions want to be great when using a wounded team. In the same institution, there are offended people and ones who have offended others. Many strained relations can be restored if we become realistic and understand that we need each other. Decide today to restore that relationship.

5. Receptive heart
A relationship is based on a receptive heart. Many people have closed hearts such that they are skeptic of any move to a relationship. You cannot grow in a relationship  whether institutional or social if you are not ready to receive another person in your heart. Some people, because of their background they have told themselves that they are unlovable. Sometimes it is because of inferiority complex. For you to be received, you should be able to receive others.

6. Roadmap
For any relationship to work there must be a road map. The road map include purpose and objectives of the relationship, the motive behind entering in that relationship and also relationship building blocks. Some relationships are not worth it. They waste time for you. Some relationships are temporary and some are permanent. Ask yourself,  why am I in that relationship.

JESUS' MODEL OF LEADERSHIP

JESUS’ MODEL OF LEADERSHIP

.....the woman went back to the town and said to the people, “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” They came out of the town and made their way toward him. ~ John 4:28-30

Jesus’ model of leadership is very profound. He influences just one individual who in turn goes into town to touch the hearts of many. He impacts one person who wins more people than what he had done. Paul is touched by Jesus on his way to Damascus and his opponents confessed that he had turned the world upside down.

The challenge we have as leaders is trying to change the whole world alone. A good leader touches individuals through an individual or a small group of individuals who will then touch the whole world. In fact we cannot be everywhere. Even not every people can read our books or hear us. Leaders who only think about themselves as the ULTIMATE in world transformation are bound to fail. Do not fool yourself. Touch a person at a time and those who will touch others.

It is painful that today the leader is competing against the person whom he is grooming to touch the world. The mentor is competing with the mentee. The mentor is being jealousy on the growth of the mentee. The spiritual father is competing with the spiritual son. In fact the spiritual father is busy stealing the spiritual son’s church members. The bishop or apostle competes with their own pastors they lead. The manager competes with their subordinates.

Imagine what would have happened if Jesus would have turned away the people who were brought through the Samaritan woman. Organizations are not growing because of leaders who are fixing people who should propel the organization forward. Leaders do not grow if they want to get credit for everything which happens in the organization. It should also be noted that the Samaritan woman did not draw people to herself. She said, ‘Come; see a man…….’ In our leadership we will fail if we want and demand credit when in fact we are acting on someone’s behalf. It should also wise to speak about the person who has influenced or impacted you, if you are to go far.

Today, as a leader make an effort to release and your mentee to touch the world. Release and develop that youth member. Never compete with somebody you are trying to develop. You will grow more when you touch and influence more individuals. In fact through that individual, you will go far in your leadership.
