THE LEADER AND KINGDOM BUSINESS

THE LEADER AND KINGDOM BUSINESS

A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way (Apostle E H Guti)

BURDEN

Ne:1:4: And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,

  • The push that gives you the sense of duty, obligation and responsibility
  • There is no leader who is going to be successful without a burden
  • Any great work of God through someone begins with a burden in that someone
  • Kingdom business calls for people who are burden bearers, stand in the gap.
  • A person with a burden will never wait to be pushed because the burden pushes him
  • What takes burden? Church politics, Lack of seriousness, offences, surroundings/environment, challenges, sin
  • Signs that the burden has gone: The commitment, devotion, zeal, energy, effort, and passion we put in our things in comparison to the same we have put in the Kingdom of God. No longer participating in Kingdom business, change of language, no longer faithful in matters of the Kingdom.
Signs of the burden: 1. Concern (Asked about the state of affairs: Nehemiah’s body was in Persia, but his heart and his interest were in Jerusalem (things of God) – 800 miles away. He wanted to know from those returning how the people and the city were doing).
2. Sat down 3. Wept and mourned 4. Fasted 5. Prayed 6. God of heaven

EYES WHICH SEE

Ø  Leadership is about vision and responsibility, not power ~Seth Berkley

Ne:2:12: And I arose in the night, I and some few men with me; neither told I any man what my God had put in my heart to do at Jerusalem: neither was there any beast with me, save the beast that I rode upon.

Leaders see:
·         What others don’t see: A leader’s eyes moves into the spiritual realm and see what others don’t see.
·         Before others see: Be always the first to see the need of the projects.
·         Ahead of others: It is a shame for any leader to behind of followers. You can’t be in 2010 when your followers are in 2019. This is one of the greatest challenges as it causes friction in kingdom projects and business.
·         Beyond others: When followers see in short term terms, leaders go into the long term range or mode. Most of buildings and projects were done by people who saw in the short term.
·         Further or bigger than others: When followers see something you see it from another angle and size or magnitude. Quality and excellence works well with leaders who see further than others (sketch of the mission house)

 ATTITUDE

Ø  It is our attitude at the beginning of a difficult task which, more than anything else, will affect its successful outcome ~ William James

Ne: 2:20: Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.
·         A predisposition or a tendency to respond positively or negatively towards a certain idea, object, person, or situation. Attitude influences an individual's choice of action, and responses to challenges, incentives, and rewards (together called stimuli).
·         Attitude can be positive or negative
·         The leader is his or her attitude. The leader’s altitude is measured by his attitude (Baba Guti)
·         Willing heart and mind comes from a willing attitude.
·         Kana usingadi even unazvo haupi because of attitude

TEAMWORK (Nehemiah 3)

Ø  Teamwork makes the dream work, but a vision becomes a nightmare when the leader has a big dream and a bad team. John C. Maxwell

Neh 4:16: And it came to pass from that time forth, that the half of my servants wrought in the work, and the other half of them held both the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the habergeons; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah.

  • There are those who oppose the vision but there are those who must support the vision
  • Every Kingdom Business will face opposition. It then calls for those who support Kingdom Business to have strong passion, devotion, burden and zeal to counter and prevail over those who oppose Kingdom Business.
  • It is dangerous for a vision bearer to lack a team which support the vision
  • Even if all do not support the pastor on what should be done, volunteer to be in the team of the visionary.
  • It is the duty of every leader to convince Kingdom Business opposers to become supporters. However, one should know that you will win some and some will remain opposers. With that in mind, still Kingdom Business should go ahead. Nothing can stop a passionate LEADER.
  • A team encourages the burden bearer or the visionary.
  • You are discouraged to move without anyone backing you.

KINGDOM PARTNERSHIP

Ø  Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality. Warren Bennis

Neh 4:23: So neither I, nor my brethren, nor my servants, nor the men of the guard which followed me, none of us put off our clothes, saving that everyone put them off for washing.

  • We must carry Kingdom mentality that which understands that as we do the work we are partnering with Kingdom.
  • Kingdom partners are part of the Kingdom and they can’t afford to see the Kingdom suffer when they are there (commitment, devoted, sacrifice)
  • Kingdom partners give as individuals and do not wait for the whole church Big days.
  • Kingdom partners do not wait for DC, workers or building committee or pastors’ push
  • Kingdom partners are not begged to do work or give to projects
  • Examples: mission house toilets, mota, ceiling, painting of inside, state of the art mission house, offices, curtaining, aircorn, state of the art desk,
 FAITH

Ø  Through hard work, perseverance and a faith in God, you can live your dreams. Ben Carson

Ne 2:10: When Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly that there was come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Israel.

  • Faith is the key when opposition to projects come. There are leaders who always oppose development. Tichafamba nevekutenda
  • Projects succeed or fail based on the faith of the leadership at the place. Faith unlocks closed doors
  • Faith cometh by hearing and hearing the word of God ~  Rom 10:17
  • Faith calls things which are not as though they were ~ Rom 4:17
  • Faith translates the unseen to the seen

GRACE AND FAVOUR

Ne 2:5: And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers' sepulchres, that I may build it.
Ne 2:18: Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king's words that he had spoken unto me.  And they said, Let us rise up and build.  So they strengthened their hands for this good work.
  • Sometimes it is not the pace but the grace of the place.
  • God enables us according to the favour he has bestowed upon us.
  • As we do projects, we must value favour of God especially in tough economic environment.

Ne: 5:19: Think upon me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people.
