Listening is considered to be the single most important
attribute of an effective manager. It is also emphasized in the Bible; Prov.
1:31; 8:34; 12:15; 15:31-32; 19:27; 25:12
Poor listening results in;
- misunderstandings
- mistakes
- jobs that need to be redone
- loss of business opportunities
- lower employee productivity
- unhappy followers
- divorce
- inability of parents and children to openly communicate
Poor listeners are viewed as impolite, rude, uncivil,
ungracious, unresponsive, and insensitive to the needs and feelings of other
people, self-centered, disinterested, preoccupied, and socially unacceptable.
